Pupari. From dust to spotlight.

There are places so magnetic that they generate an uncontrollable curiosity. Such is the case of the Teatro dei Pupi in Syracuse. Walking through the streets of the island of Ortygia I have been obsessed for months by the artisans laboratories, wishing to enter them and discover their secrets. This is how this documentary was born. I introduced myself to Alfredo and asked to film their work, discovering that my filming coincided with the fortieth anniversary of their activity. It was a nice surprise. With this short video I hope I can share a bit of the curiosity behind my work, so you too can discover an art that has been passed on for generations in Sicily.
